Natural Dyeing became a huge passion of mine. It enables me to explore nature in a new and always unpredictable way. It’s like entering into dialogue with our environment on a completely new level.

Imagine you have learned a new language and you try to communicate with a native speaker the very first time. That’s how I felt after my initial dyeing experiments. Time after time I was able to get more fluent in this particular „language“ and I can feel, that I’m walking towards the heart or core of nature.

My aim is not just to create sustainable, long lasting products with my own hands but also to find an inner tranquility while making them. By focusing on these aspects I mainly use vintage fabrics, old clothes or tableware. In addition, I am using kitchen waste like onion skins, avocado stones, coffee grounds, etc. and local plants like nettles, acorns, carrot tops and so on to dye with.

On this colorful journey I came across Quilting. Unfortunately I am not an heiress to a dynasty of quilters. But I’m trying to learn and connect with this age-old handcraft tradition in a respectful and admiring way. I love the idea of creating a new quilting tradition in my own family. To pass something warm and beautiful and special to the next generation.

My sanguine temperament drives me to some other things as well, like drawing (incl. linocut, watercolour), felting, stitching (classic embroidery, sashiko, boro,..), knitting, sewing and many more.

Why do I call my website Viva Waldorf? Because Waldorf – or more precisely speaking Anthroposophy – is my baseline, my inspiration, my way of seeing things, my path in life. Maybe one day you will find more informations about this philosophy here.
